| Local Flair ~ Our Story |

Born of many years experience in the fine jewelry business, theatre, the arts and indeed of Scottish heritage as well as from Katy and Larry Brydon’s desire to create a special jewelry shop in the Richmond area, MacLaren Jewelers is an elegant, intriguing retail jewelry location unlike any other on the entire east coast. Architect Harry Harris (William Henry Harris & Associates) and interior designer Lisa Bagby, CID, ASID together with contractors Norman Company Inc. and OB Yancy, master cabinetmaker, collaborated closely with the Brydons to uniquely transform these indoor and outdoor spaces. The shop also reflects the exceptional artistry of Cathy and Ben Dunkum of Dunkum Upholstery in New Kent , decorative artist Byrne Wheeler of Charlottesville, Carousel Signs and Designs of Rockville and Debbie Tatum, horticulturist and landscaper with LanCrafters of Ashland. From its inviting patio gates, fountain, flowers and sun color, tile walled foyer, to its beautifully appointed consulting rooms, coin room, and accommodating large showrooms, to its unusually handsome cases from the 1800s, hand stenciled walls and Stickley reproduction furniture, MacLaren Jewelers offers the most unique, most artistic business venue for miles around. Featured prominently are works by Virginia artists Nancy Witt, Tom Chenoweth, David Camden and Christophora Robeers. Local artists also featured include Kitty Williams and Sally Brydon Booth. And surely, there's no other fine jewelry shop boasting a scottish piper....be charmed by Tim Batten's piping twice weekly at MacLaren, often 'round the lake in Innsbrook and for MacLaren 's special events!
